I'll miss you, Dad

My Dad died tonight.  It wasn't a surprise since he was 89, and the past couple weeks especially his health has taken a sharp turn downward.  It's still hurts.  I'm definitely glad I was able to see him two weeks ago and say goodbye.  He was definitely struggling then, so I am glad he's finally at peace.

I didn't take any photos when I saw him two weeks ago, I don't want to remember him that way.  This is the way I'll remember him.. wearing his Rubix cube shirt at Indian Princess camp outs, playing with me and Scott in the family room, camping in the tent in the back yard, Knott's Berry Farm, summer vacations to Florida.  I don't have a picture of him with marching band, but he was at every single football game, every practice, working the concession stand at Angel Stadium, selling fireworks.. always volunteering wherever he could.

Feeling Grateful

We had such a great Valentine's Day.  The kids had a lot of fun with their classes exchanging valentines, and I even got to help in Silas' class with a science experiment and the valentine exchange.  I went to see my Dad last weekend, he's not doing well and definitely getting a lot weaker.  Scott got him signed up for a hospice program, so hopefully that can help keep him comfortable.

Definitely a lot to be grateful for these days.
