Daphne is walking!

Over Labor Day weekend, Daphne took a few steps on her own!  She has been walking more and more each day.   Stephany thinks that within a couple weeks, she'll be walking most all the time.  I can't believe how fast she is growing up!  It seems like it was just yesterday I was wearing her all day long in the ring sling. 

I think she's doing well at Stephany's, but not napping so well (of course!).  She only takes one nap a day for 90 min or so, but I am happy she is at least getting that.  She has been very tired in the evenings and going to bed earlier, but as she gets older I'm sure her schedule will adjust. 

Splish Splash

We've had several very warm days this summer, so to help cool off we blew up the inflatable wading pool.  That pool is much smaller than I remember it!  Both kids barely fit in, and when you add in some toys, there's not much room.  They had fun though, and it was a good activity for the really hot days. 

Watermelon Festival

Silas and I went to the Watermelon Festival last weekend.  It was very hot, but it was good to do something different.  The highlight was definitely the watermelon funnel cake.  It might be fun to go back again when the kids are a little older, can ride on the rides, and we can go in the evening once the sun is down!

Summer Weather Is Here

The past few weeks have brought the summer heat to El Segundo!  It has cooled down quite a bit from the initial heat wave, but is still warm.  We have fans running in all the rooms most all day, and are staying fairly comfortable, at least when it cools down at night.

This summer is also the first time we have gone to Hilltop pool.  It's great and Silas really enjoys it!  We've taken Daphne in as well, she will splash a little but seems somewhat overwhelmed by it all. 

Aside from the pool, we've been spending lots of time at the parks in the shade.  Steve has been off every Friday, so we've been able to spend a lot more family time together. 

Look Alikes

Daphne looks so much like Silas did as a baby.  Here they both are at 7 months. 

The Last Ms Wanda's Class

We did Ms Wanda's class again this past spring session, but I don't think we'll sign up for the summer.  I think we're done.  Daphne is still too young to really enjoy it, and Silas has certainly outgrown it.  Her class certainly wasn't exciting for me either, but a part of me will miss it.  Ms Wanda's was the first "Mommy and Me" class I took Silas to when he was 6 months old.  It is one of those things that I was only able to do because I stayed home with them.

Silas' Shadow

Now that Daphne is crawling pretty well, she follows Silas EVERYWHERE.  He isn't very fond of his new shadow, but is slowly getting used to it.  It's still hard to get a good picture of them together, since Silas doesn't stay still very long.
