Almost Spring Break!

 It seems this year is going by so quickly, it's only 2 more weeks until Spring Break and we're already planning for summer camps.  Didn't they just start the school year???

We've been doing really well. A few colds, but overall everyone is healthy.  Work has been busy, and the kids have been busy with their scout activities.  Silas and I decorated our first cake for the cub scouts Blue and Gold celebration.  The girl scouts had a tasting bee event that was really fun.  We also took the kids back to Caspers Wilderness park.   They got a lot more time playing in the creek, and we got to explore the nature center and the playground. 

We're going camping one night, with Ruby, over Spring break.  I'm excited, but a little worried how that will go!

First Family Camping Trip

 We went to Caspers Wilderness Park camping with Silas' cub scout pack last weekend.  We all had a really good time.  The campsite was very pretty and close to a nice creek the kids got to play in.  Silas played football with some of the other kids, and Daphne played some with Kia.  We did a hike with the pack, it was a long one and required two river crossings where our feet got soaked.  Both the kids did great.  The only downside to the weekend was we had to board Ruby, she was pretty nervous and definitely glad to get home. 

Over Spring break we're going to try one night at Leo Cabrillo and take Ruby with us, that should be interesting!

Last Legoland Visit... for now

Our passes expire next week, we took our last Legoland visit last weekend.  We ended up going 7 times this year with our passes!  I'll definitely miss it and miss this time with the kids.  They're growing up so quickly.

Scouts!

 Both Daphne and Silas are in Scouts this year for the first time, Daphne in Girl Scouts and Silas in Cub Scouts.  We've been busy with scouting activities recently.  The Pinewood Derby was today for the Cub Scouts, and Silas raced The Sled.  The placement wasn't great, but it was a fun event and we learned a lot for next year.  

Girl Scout cookie season has started, and this will be our first year selling.  We get our cookies tomorrow, so hopefully we'll be able to sell them!  We're also all going camping with the Cub Scouts mid February for the weekend.  It should be fun, and definitely will be interesting!  I also booked a spot a Leo Cabrillo for us to camp one night over spring break and take Ruby :)

Universal Studios!

 This year for Silas' birthday we went to Universal Studios.  We had a really great time, Super Nintendo World was definitely a highlight.  The rides are definitely different than Legoland, but after a few times Daphne really liked the Secret Life of Pets ride. 

I'm glad we did the California Neighbor pass and will be able to go back again!

Happy 9th Birthday!!

 Happy Birthday, Silas!  I am so happy to be able to celebrate another birthday with you!  I am so proud of everything you have accomplished this year, how many new things you have tried, and how hard you have worked.  You are such a kind, sensitive person.  I love our time spent watching documentaries and our talks when walking Ruby.  I love seeing your interests develop and seeing you grow.  I love your jokes, your kindness and seeing you do so well in school and new things you try.  I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you.    

I am so lucky to be your mom, I love you more than I can ever tell you.

A New Year

 It's always hard to pack away the Christmas decorations, but this year I was especially sad.  Christmas is such a magical time and reminds me of happier days with my family.  This year we didn't have the perfect magical Christmas morning, but we are all healthy, together, and we definitely did have many enjoyable moments over the break.  

The kids are still off school another week, and we are going to Universal Studios this weekend for Silas' birthday.  Steve and I are taking off work this week also, which I am very excited about.  Definitely no rush to go back!
