We had a great Spring Break! Daphne and I enjoyed Arizona. It was hard being there and not going to see my Dad. It definitely made it feel more real that he's gone. Steve and Silas went go carting and kayaking. I took both kids for a quick trip to Knotts as well, it was packed but we got there at 10am and were able to ride our usual rides.

Spring break!
We are officially on Spring Break. I can't believe how fast the year is going. Daphne and I are going to Arizona for a few days this week, which I'm looking forward to. I know she'll do really well.
First grade had a family picnic on Friday, and I got to help at the 4th grade spring party.

We did a thing and added to our family :) We've only had him a day, so we're all still adjusting. He is definitely very cute!

I'll miss you, Dad
My Dad died tonight. It wasn't a surprise since he was 89, and the past couple weeks especially his health has taken a sharp turn downward. It's still hurts. I'm definitely glad I was able to see him two weeks ago and say goodbye. He was definitely struggling then, so I am glad he's finally at peace.
I didn't take any photos when I saw him two weeks ago, I don't want to remember him that way. This is the way I'll remember him.. wearing his Rubix cube shirt at Indian Princess camp outs, playing with me and Scott in the family room, camping in the tent in the back yard, Knott's Berry Farm, summer vacations to Florida. I don't have a picture of him with marching band, but he was at every single football game, every practice, working the concession stand at Angel Stadium, selling fireworks.. always volunteering wherever he could.

Feeling Grateful
We had such a great Valentine's Day. The kids had a lot of fun with their classes exchanging valentines, and I even got to help in Silas' class with a science experiment and the valentine exchange. I went to see my Dad last weekend, he's not doing well and definitely getting a lot weaker. Scott got him signed up for a hospice program, so hopefully that can help keep him comfortable.
Definitely a lot to be grateful for these days.

Pinewood Derby
Both kids are in scouts this year, so they both made pinewood derby cars and raced with their dens. It was a lot of fun! Silas made the Nintendo Racer and Daphne made the Boring Car.

Silas is 10!!
Happy Birthday, Silas!
I am so lucky to be your mom. I've loved you since before you were born and somehow love you more each day. It makes me so happy to see the young man you are becoming, all your interests developing, how hard you work in school, your willingness to try new things, and how much you are learning. I had so much fun with you on the trip to Phoenix.
I love you more then you will ever know. Happy Birthday!
Love, Mom
