The day after Daphne's birthday was no school, so we went to Knotts Berry Farm. The kids really enjoyed the Camp Snoopy area, they did the log ride but DID NOT like it at all. Silas liked the bumper cars. I bought the annual passes since it includes Soak City, so we'll plan to go back a few more times. Definitely lots of memories there...

Almost October!
The kids are doing great in their classes, and we are back in the routine of school. I ended up as room parent for both of their classes this year, so we'll see how that goes. Some of the parties overlap which makes me sad I can't be at both, but I think there will be enough other volunteers to cover.
Daphne joined cub scouts this year, so we've been doing the pack events together. I doubt she'll stay in it past this year, but I'm really proud of her for trying something new.

First Week Done!
And just like that, we're back in the swing of school. I'm very happy that both kids seem to like their teachers and their classes. Daphne wasn't sure she remembered where her classroom was the second day of school, so Silas offered to walk with her to make sure she found her room. Now they walk in together every morning. As much as he picks on her at home, he really is a good big brother. Silas has also been walking home by himself after school. He's growing up so fast!

First Day of School
Feeling sad, but also definitely grateful today. Silas started 4th grade with Ms. Dawes and Daphne started first grade with Mrs. Barnstone. They both have friends in their classes and have heard good things about both their teachers, but I'm definitely missing them and the end of summer. This is such a fun age with them, and I've really gotten used to having them around so much.
Silas got to go to Soak City with Malaya last week. He's growing up so fast! It sounds like they had a great time, and we'll definitely have to plan to go as a family. Last weekend we did one more camping trip to Leo Carillo. There wasn't in water in the creek, but the kids enjoyed playing at the beach. Ruby got to try to dog beach as well, she wasn't such a fan.

San Diego
Last weekend we took the train and went to San Diego. It was a lot of walking, but we all enjoyed it. The train down was busy, but we were fortunate to get four seats together. The kids did great on the train and kept busy with their activity books. Then we took the ferry to Coronado, and they played in the water there on the beach.
The second day we took the bus to the Zoo. We saw most of the Zoo, but by about 2pm were all hot and tired. The third day we went to the Midway in the morning, then took the train back in the afternoon. We had a pet sitter stay with Ruby which worked out really well. She's so much more comfortable being home then being boarded. I still can't believe school starts in just over a week. This whole summer has just gone by so quickly.

Summer flying by
Summer is going WAY too quickly, I can' t believe it's already August. The kids don't start school until August 27th this year, so we have a few more weeks, but it still feels so close.
They've really been enjoying their camps. Daphne did 2 weeks of Art Camp at Rec Park with Natalie Strong, and Girl Scout Camp. They did tons of arts and crafts at Girl Scout camp, and she loved it. Silas did Guitar camp and did a great performance at the end. He also did skateboard camp at the skate park, and basketball camp. I'm so proud of them both for trying new things. They've also both been doing a lot of swimming and have been doing great. Silas just passed Level 6, and Daphne finished level 4.
We're going to San Diego on Thursday which should be a lot of fun, and we have one more camping trip to Leo Carillo. I just need to remember to soak in all these moments, because they'll be back in school too quickly.
