Summer Camp

Summer camps are done for both kids.  I really wish they were offered for a few more weeks, but very glad the kids got to do some activities and really enjoyed it.  Especially Daphne, she's been home so long beacuse of COVID.

Silas lost his first tooth yesterday and got a visit from the tooth fairy last night.  He's getting so grown up!!

Swimming

We've done a couple trips to Hilltop pool.  The kids were a little hesitent in the water, but had fun staying in the shallow end.  We'll definitely go back more this summer.

Both kids have completed their second week of summer camp activities and are enjoying it.  Silas is at sports camp at Center Street and Daphne is at Eagles Nest.  I'm so glad to see Daphne getting to spend time with friends her age and bring home preschool crafts.  She had a hard time the first several days, but is doing much better at drop off.

A climber

Daphne has really been big on climbing things lately... mainly me at home, but also climbing poles at the playground.  She's getting strong and pretty fast!  Reminds me of playing on the bars so much when I was a kid.  I remember in middle school PE being one of the fastest up the pole.

We also went to Hilltop pool for the first time this summer.  It's good to see things opening up more, but I'm anxious for the kids to be able to get vaccinated.  They had fun at the pool and it wasn't too crowded, we're planning to go back tomorrow since the kids are on summer break.

Memorial Day

We had a great day today.   It was really nice to spend the day together as a family.  I know that soon enough the kids will be doing their own things, and we won't have the opportunity to spend the whole day together.  I'll really miss it, so doing the best I can to be present and soak it all in.   Today was a good day.  Definitely were tears, yelling, and frustrations... but I was there for it, and for them.  One day at a time.  I need to write more about days like this, because this is what I want to remember.

This morning we setup the tent in the back yard and the kids were "camping".  I wasn't sure how Ruby would do with the tent.  She definitely explored a lot with her mouth, but I was able to stop her from any permanent damage.  In the afternoon we went to Glen Anderson park.  It was nice to go somewhere different, and wasn't too crowded.

Ice Cream

I found some coupons for free kids ice cream at Cold Stone, so we took the kids.  They loved it, of course, and it was good to get out a bit and do something a little more normal.

Only 2 more weeks of school left.  This summer will be ineteresting.  I'm really excited for Daphne to go to summer camp at Eagles Nest and Silas will have sports camp for 2 hours in the morning.  I'm still not sure how things will work in August where they are both off for the month, but we will figure it out!

Outside Time

COVID case numbers have been going down quite a bit, thankfully, but we've still been spending quite a bit of time at home.  The kids have been playing in the yard more with Ruby and Silas has found a favorite tree to climb.

Steve and I both got our second vaccines last week, so I'm feeling much better about things.  Silas is also back to a more regular school schedule with his whole class together.  There will also be a 2 hour summer camp at Rec Park we will sign up Daphne for.  We will also plan to visit my parents later this month.  Things are starting to get back to normal :)   For work, I found out that I will be classified as a "remote" employee.  I'm actually pretty happy about that, and hope I don't have to go into work too often.
